How to art: Freedom & Balance best practices
rule 1: If it’s not Heartwork, it’s not Artwork
Whatever you create does not need to look good, it just needs to be true.
The best ideas are normally just repurposed memories and experiences from the best past. You don’t need to ‘create’ an idea you just need to remember them.
Be gentle on yourself when creating and reviewing your work. This is for your growth, not self-depreciation.
All of Freedom & Balance’s exercises are designed to be applicable to your everyday life. When reviewing your work, ask yourself how it can be.
Rule 2: The process is the prize
Beat procrastination by setting the timer for 15-45 mins and don’t stop creating until the timer goes off.
Every Freedom & Balance exercise has a Bronze, Silver, and Gold level of difficulty. If you want the most rewarding creative experience, go for Gold.
Need ideas? Look for inspiration. Online or offline. When you find it, copy it. Make it your own. There’s no shame in a little copying + remixing.
If done consistently, every art piece you create at the end of each week adds up to one big body of work by the end of the curriculum. So even if you feel stuck, stick it out. You’ll be surprised to see all the things you can create in a month or two.
